Ward Melville High School’s Students Against Destructive Decisions Club has been busy this year promoting wellness and the importance of making healthy choices on a daily basis. The group has hosted guest speakers on the topic and was integral in the building’s informative Red Ribbon Week campaign to promote a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle.

This winter, the club is teaming up with the National Road Safety Foundation to create a two-minute video submission for a #DrivingSkills101 Challenge. For the competition, the students are working to explain how to successfully navigate merges while driving and illustrating the obstacles they might encounter during this type of situation.

Winning submissions in the contest will be recognized at the 2020 SADD National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The winning chapter will be awarded $2,000 and have their PSA idea professionally produced by an Emmy-winning producer and broadcast on over 150 TV stations nationwide. Additionally, the top 10 chapter finalists will each win $250.
