Ward Melville High School and the Three Village Industry Advisory Board, also known as 3V-IAB, hosted the second annual career fair event in the Ward Melville cafeteria in early January, giving students the chance to explore future professions.

This year’s innovative theme was “Growth Careers on Long Island.” During the event, junior high and high school students and their parents learned more about expanding career fields on Long Island to help them make more informed choices selecting potential college majors and career paths. To make this a fun and interesting experience for all, an informative “career DNA” online personality quiz QR code was provided to students in their respective schools in advance of the event. Students took the quiz and were provided with color-coded results that they used to help easily navigate businesses at the event in a fun and personalized way.

“Last year, the Three Village Industry Advisory Board had a very successful launch year,” said teacher Ilene Littman, who was instrumental in planning the event. “This year, we were thrilled to introduce our students to local career opportunities with our ‘Growth Careers on Long Island.’ Over 35 Long Island businesses were in attendance, representing specific occupations in health care, business/technology and the trades at this exciting event.”

This event was designed to support Three Village students in identifying and matching their own personality traits with potential careers that are growing locally and that will be viable opportunities to enter professions uniquely suited to them. Businesspeople at the career fair informed students about their own personal journeys, provided tips on how to enter specific occupations and helped students find clarity and direction for their future.
