Ward Melville High School students are focusing on the importance of self-care this January through an initiative created by the school’s counseling center and guidance department.

Colorful and informative posters have been hung throughout the school highlighting various tips to improve one’s mental and physical health during stressful times. These tips encourage such behaviors as mindfulness activities, proper nutrition and ways to decompress. In addition, as many midterms and other exams are held during the month of January, other posters include ways to improve study skills and destress when preparing for the exams.

Each month the counseling center focuses on a different topic geared toward student wellness and overall health. February will include informative presentations about relationship safety.
