Qualifying students at Nassakeag Elementary School recently took part in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge.

As part of the district’s Physical Education curriculum, teachers Jeanne Lalima and Christopher LaRochelle taught students the skill of jumping during their class sessions. Following this unit, students had to qualify by jumping consecutively for five minutes to enter the competition.

Sixty students from fourth through sixth grade participated in the event and at the end, the two co-champions were fourth graders Robby Kerr and Connor Gutman. The students surpassed last year’s record of 27 minutes and 42 seconds by jumping for 30 straight minutes!
